RR is correct, these packages are too difficult to open, but not just for those with impairment. As you should know, air travel with scissors, especially scissors strong enough to cut through this packaging are prohibited items on commercial airlines. I need packaging that holds my extra batteries in place but is easy to open without instruments.

Fortunately, I have some of those reel style packages from another brand that can be repurposed. But I strongly suggest you rethink and redesign. I will be contacting the VA to express my concerns and my displeasure that this problem was not recognized before issuing.

Unfortunately, the child-proof packaging is making it very difficult for my patients to actually use their hearing aids. I have blind patients who cannot open the packaging, because they struggle to safely open it with scissors. I have patients with dexterity issues who cannot cut through the hard plastic. Some patients have cut the batteries without realizing, unknowingly allowing them to leak into the hearing aid and causing corrosion. My clinic staff have ended up having to open all the packs for some of these patients and transferring them into the older not child-proof reel style packaging, just so they can use their hearing aids! There must be a different option created which is both child-proof and easier for patients to open.
