About Amy

Amy is originally from the land of 10,000 lakes, Minnesota. Despite short stints in Washington DC and New Mexico, she has made Colorado her home for the last few decades. In fact, one of her favorite quotes is, “I am not a Colorado native but I got here as fast as I could!”

Amy is passionate about deaf education, and leadership. She has over 20 years of experience in Deaf Education, 18 years of which have been at Rocky Mountain Deaf School (RMDS). Currently, she is in her 9th year as the Director of RMDS. She received her bachelor and master degrees in Deaf Education from Gallaudet University. Amy also added a master degree in Administration Leadership Policy studies from the University of Colorado, Denver (UCD).

One of her favorite things is exploring and enjoying what Colorado has to offer. She loves traveling, reading and hiking with her dog, an Australian Shepherd. Amy also has a Boston Terrier who is more of a hide-under-the-cozy-blankets (especially in cold weather!) dog than an adventurer.

Amy is honored to be part of the Colorado EHDI Core Team and Alliance. She has enjoyed working with an excellent group of professionals filled with diverse experiences and expertise.
